I'm not a Spurs fan, and coming more as a Blazers follower in this. The Blazers front office would probably be willing to trade CJ + Picks for Thad and either White or Murray.

Making that trade now gives the Blazers a taller guard and wing production / defense in Thad Young.

It also keeps the options open for a second trade for the Blazers with their expiring contracts.

If it doesn't work out for the Blazers, it guarantees the Blazers can stay out of the luxury tax the next three seasons and opens up more options in Dame trades since they won't be looking to shed salary like the Rockets were. The Blazers would be left with 3 youngish guards for a retool.

For the Spurs, you get efficient 3PT volume from a player with a professional attitude.
