I dunno if Iran air force will actually be effective. Planes are a lot easier to shoot down and not amazingly more effective unless they can do multiple runs. If they can't do multiple runs they are just very expensive and ineffective piloted cruise missiles. Better off just using the cruise missiles vs high probability of being shot down.

Iran should have more than enough cruise missiles to feel as they've made an equal or greater response. The problem will be Trump response to their response and so on.

Trump will use this as justification for an aggressive strike against Iran, which will ensure their citizens want extended war with any US troops in the region. The US will also probably not win back the favor of the Iraq government/people. We also don't have enough troops or gear and that takes months to ramp up.

If you were going to do this, you should have have more far and troops in place at the very least or ensured Iraq was on your side and not hid it from them maybe.
