On fun story that resulted from attending the Society for Neuroscience meeting in San Diego in 1995: 1. Gave a talk as an undergrad, it went over very well and I pretty darn excited; 2. Went back to my hotel (in Point Loma). Showered, changed, and had dinner at the tiny place at the marina. Chef/owner's hot middle-aged wife drank with me while I ate and rubbed my thigh (I think they were swingers). 3. Took a water taxi from the marina to downtown San Diego, took the trolly from downtown to the Mexican border. 4. Walked across the border, went to the main nightlife district. Things from there get a little hazy. 5. Cheered the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football to a victor over the Cleveland Browns with a bunch of punks from Manchester, England. 6. Met a bunch of Navy dudes and their wives/girlfriends when they paid to have a Mexican guy come up behind me, put a bottle of tequila in my mouth and lower the back of my chair to the floor while everyone cheered me on to drink as much of the bottle as possible. 7. Saw a donkey show with said Navy guys/gals (felt a little sorry for the donkey, mainly). 8. Met a group of female gerontology graduate students from Louisiana who were attending a conference in Los Angeles. Watched a Mexican guy in that group got shaken down by the police. 9 Got a little frisky with one of the grad students :) She invited me to go back to LA with them for a party they were invited to. 10. Walked back across the border at sunrise, stopped at my hotel to grab some clothes, drove to LA. 11. Saw an episode of a terrible television show be taped (Caroline in the City). A friend of theirs got us into the adjacent studio, got to walk around the set of Seinfeld. 12. Attended party in Beverly Hills, met Robert Shapiro (this was right after the OJ Simpson verdict).
13. Two days later, took the train down the pacific coast to San Diego (amazing train ride) and finished the meeting.

So yeah, scientific meetings can be a lot of fun :)
