The members have always been selfish and narrow minded. Just look at all the drama Joseph Smith had to put up with in the early church! It was crazy.

Interacting with any group of people on a personal level inevitably leads to strife. It’s easy to look at your work environment and say “there’s no drama there. I wish my family and community life was that simple”. But if you started sleeping with your coworkers or interacting with them on a more personal level you would soon encounter the same strife and drama.

You can always disengage and choose not to have personal relationships with people, but it leads to a boring and purposeless life.
