To those who saw Phantom Menace in theaters in 1999, how did you feel about the movie then? Now?

I was adult-ish when I watched them in theaters.

  • Didn't know how to feel about them expanding on the Jedi powers. Before they were like cool 16th Century Muskateers but with lasers but still human. Now they were suddenly super-beings that could cut through blast doors and defy death itself. Seemed like too big of an ability jump.

    • Felt very uncomfortable with Yoda's abs. He went from a ripped 781 y.o. to a frail dying 800 year old. Those were a brutal 19 years I guess.
    • terrible acting by that little kid. 50% of that terriblness were his ungodly terrible lines which are so bad we went from hating them, to meme-ing them, to somehow being nostalgic about them. Stockholm Dialogue Syndrome.
