A Thought on Rey

But why bother with altering Luke's genome, to turn it female, and not just clone him directly? Or clone Anakin for that matter. I'm sure they have his DNA on record and his midichlorian count was higher than Luke and Leia's.

with significant elements of Luke's genetic profile.

I get what you're saying. Essentially use the part of Luke's genome that is responsible for the midichlorian cont and make Rey. But that would technically make her his daughter, not a clone.

You know, even with Anakin there must have been a father. Biologically, it is not possible to make a male embryo using only the mother's genome. The Y chromosome must be supplied by a male.
