Three Years Playing the Electric Guitar - Month by Month Progress

I first tried learning guitar at 17, practice regularly for a bit but stopped before a year or so. Decided to go back and try again at 25 and i seemed to have picked up where i left off and now i feel much more comfortable with my guitar. I bought a subscription to tabpro.com ( its a really good ap, i got a lifetime sub when i signed up though for 50$) and have been able to learn a bit more than just where to place my fingers. I'm currently getting more and more used to finger style and percussion but i feel like i'm not understanding the whole "Learn by ear" concept.

[There are songs i'm dying to learn(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vJDPsd80f4) ( This riff is so sweet ) that have no tabs and so far had no success finding out what to do.
