TIL that a woman created a fake facebook profile of a teenage girl and sent a friend request to her husband, then used transcripts of their conversations to get him arrested. He was freed and all charges were dropped when he produced a notarized affidavit, proving he knew it was her all along.

I'm sorry about what happened to you. Truly I am. You weren't "technically" raped, you were raped. Period. But your original comment was absolutely a commentary on how "easy" it is for a woman to cry rape and get men thrown in jail.

don't be. it really wasn't a big deal. didn't even think about it as 'rape' until yearrrrs later. and even then, it didn't bother me. irritates me that I had to break up over it and could have gotten an STD. other than that, it's whatever. My original comment was more about what constitutes rape than it was about how 'easy' it was. slight difference, but you get what I'm saying?

And even on the slim chance you were being facetious, you then proceeded to expanded on this perception in further comments as well as repeatedly discussing false as if it truly is the "other side" of rape.

For sure. It isn't a 'common' occurrence, but it's real. false accusations are tricky. I didn't go into it in detail, but the issue with those is that it's not generally just some chick fabricating something for her own benefit. some of these gals think they have been legit raped. I'm not fucking around with you. I've known one. Highschool. fucked a dude, he told everybody. she got mad. decided it was rape. not just to spite him, but she started thinking back with a dynamic memory. she lost her virginity to him and it was all good. said it hurt, but etc..etc.. after he put her name out there, suddenly that 'pain' was rape in her head. you get me? he's the one that suggested sex. he's the one that convinced her. at the time, she felt it was just something expected of people in relationships. after she found out it wasn't that serious, put her own shit in perspective. story turned out OK. dude had a lot of support, people backing him. people turned on her REAL quick. pariah. seriously. people actively HATED her. that's the first time I understood the potential shame a rape victim faces...eye opening. I mean, I was still cool with her, but I didn't really tell people.

It's not as easy as a woman saying "I changed my mind about the sex" and having a man thrown in jail. It never ever has been. So why must the subject of false accusations be mentioned when discussing rape? All that does is perpetuate the idea that every rape accusation has the 50-50 chance of being false, when the odds are more akin to what you'd find with a scratch-off ticket than a coin toss.

I hear what you're saying, but it's not just about the jail. Accusations sting. Serious accusations do real damage. Look at your dude MJ. there are still, I bet , hundreds of thousands of people that still think that dude was a child molester and a pedophile. based on accusations, (some which has been proven lies), and rumors. of course...this is one of the biggest celebrities of the 20th century, but still.

people bring up that shit about false accusations because it's scary. because it makes them feel vulnerable. it makes them feel like someone can take their life away with a lie. it's not likely to happen, but it can. I try to steer conversations towards what IS and what IS NOT rape. I hiad a point, but I'm about 5 beers in.
