I tip very well to service workers, because it’s a tough gig i would never want to have. I have a wife and many peers who work in the industry as well, so I’m aware of the stories. If I were an introverted, anti-social homebody complaining about their experience, I’d say your response has merit. But I’m not. And neither are any of the dozens of folks I’ve encountered who have the same complaint as myself, which is why this was posted. Before the forced (instead of suggested) tipping was put into action, I tipped my baristas.

There have been entire pieces in New York Times and WSJ around this “new” tipping culture. So again, it’s not just one disgruntled customer. I beseech the company, not the employee.
