Baristas: what’s a positive customer interaction you’ll never forget?

I had a lady come in asking about what drink to get, it was my last customer before I clocked out so I just recommended an iced white mocha with hazel and I saw her eyebrows go up a bit at the price, so I just used my markout. I told her it was okay and on me, and she just BREAKS DOWN sobbing.

I of course asked if she was okay and she told me she’s getting this drink for her friend who was at the hospital with her husband so she could go home and change clothes. Her husband was dying and she just wanted to go home and feel human because she hadn’t showered in like three days. I start crying and take her hand and ask for her name, and give her mine.

You best believe I took every step to make that the best drink I’ve ever made. I was still in tears by the time I clocked out and gave her a hug before she left. It wasn’t necessarily positive, but it was one of those moments I really liked that I have the power to do something small to make someone’s day brighter.

On a happier note, once I made a bow out of our Uber bag stickers for a lady who was going to a Christmas party and she was delighted.
