Tips for Combatting Anxiety at Work?

I gotta be honest- Everyone here is a little too fast to jump to the “seek professional help” “get on substances” wagon without much context. I mean yes there is a time and a place for it (I myself am a person with an anxiety disorder and there’s no shame in it) but starting a new job is inherently stressful and so is being an attorney. It is okay to be anxious sometimes as long as it’s not impacting your work or your personal life. I’d recommend just giving yourself time to settle in and if you have a trusted colleague or mentor or even just friends who are lawyers to lean on them for support. I find my imposter syndrome settles down a lot when I become aware that this is how it goes for everyone and it’s not just a “me” struggle. I also find that being anxious about rightfully being anxious is just not helpful!

Hell I recently posted on here being mad anxious because I felt like I couldn’t talk to my coworkers and that worked itself out within like 48 hours. Give yourself time and space!! Have a stress relief tea, burn off the stress at the gym before or after work, clear your mind with a walk on your breaks!!

I wish you luck.
