Lawyers of Reddit, what are the pros and cons of being a lawyer and what does a lawyer’s life look like?

My day is chill as fuck. I work at am AMlaw 200 firm as an international tax and international estate planning lawyer. Most of my clients are my own.

I work from home permanently because my clients are all over the world so I’m always on zoom.

I work 9-5/6 M-F and never on weekends.

I have no stress because my job has no deadlines. Private wealth planning runs on my timeline, and if I need another week or month to do something I just communicate that to the client.

My area is extremely specialized and technical, and the demand for my services far, far outpaces the number of qualified lawyers.

For the most part, all my clients are very appreciative of my work and pay my bills. I’m also very friendly with most of them.

And, my rate is high. Just about $700/hr.

That’s a day in the life of an international estate planning attorney…
