Tired of hearing how getting a diagnosis because you demonstrated autistic traits at a young age is a privilege

There are hardships on both sides, but yeah I do notice that people think I'd you're diagnosed early that you get access to all these great things. Not everyone gets accommodations if they're early diagnosed depending on their family, school, or area. I never did, I just got abused by the schools so bad that I regressed further.

Not to mention people diagnosed early get infantilized so much. Their parents might prevent them from having a life at all or doing things other kids do because of autism. A few of these kids eventually end up in group homes or guardianship and get no life experience at all. I'd rather mask my whole life if it meant having friends, going to college, and getting married vs being forbidden from all of it and trapped in a group home. Early diagnosed people are more likely to suffer through ABA as well. These are some disadvantages that are ignored.

So overall yeah I think both sides have pros and cons. It can be a privilege to access resources and a diagnosis but it can also be a privilege to go through life having regular experience vs being barred from independence your whole life.
