Today was better than yesterday

I'm just writing a novel here about how genetics determine if we are low risk or high risk for addiction. Comparing two people who take opiates for pain, one high-risk and one low risk. How if low risk guy bought his pain meds from the street vs high risk guy buying from a doctor/pharmacy and which person is going to end up with a opiate addiction problem.

I'm sorry about your friend. It sucks when someone passes away due to their addiction, especially when it's becauee they were doing so well up until a brief moment of weakness resulting in a single relapse causing them to lose their fight.

People are so ignorant to the fact that opiate addiction is a disease. People will say using opiates is a choice not a disease, they will tell you no one decides to have cancer so cancer is a diease solely based on the fact that you didn't choose to have it.

If a person with the genetics that put them at high risk for addiction and they have some sort of medical emergency requiring them to be prescribed opiates that person is most likely going to develop a problem. Their doctor might pick up on it, they might have to turn to the street for stronger opiates. A lot might happen and we all know what can happen when that door is opened. Yeah no one forced that person to do opiates but a doctor provided them for a legit reason to a person with high risk for addiction and a mental disorder developed over time called addiction and it's been scientifically proven that opiate addiction is a God damn mental disorder and disease.

If you're in enough pain to warrant a prescription are you expected to say no opiates for me? Hell no we are not medical experts that's why we consults with fucking doctors. You better hopeyour genetics put you at a low risk for addiction or God help you!

(end rant)

I'm sorry you lost your friend due to a single moment of weakness resulting in her fatal relapse. Society does not understand addiction very well and it breaks my heart when I hear someone who was in recovery lost their fight due to a relapse.
