I told my boss to fuck off and it was liberating

I managed a bakery for a couple years and consistently chose to clean the bathrooms instead of making someone else do it. There were days that I was too busy with paperwork, but the employees were more than willing to do clean the bathroom because they'd seen me do it dozens of times. It wasn't like I was asking them to do something I was unwilling to do.
The best leaders are the ones who don't really want to lead. They work to minimize the authority of the position they inhabit. They choose to not use their tools of enforcement, and instead they build a mutual human respect and a workplace that isn't completely dreadful. There is a hidden value to paying your employees well and treating them with respect. They will respect your business in return.
