Transgender student at Wisconsin high school wins appeal

It would help alleviate a lot of concerns if we could stop being vague about certain parts of the law. What are we worried about? Assholes. The few people among millions who ruin it for everyone else. The people who cause us to write rules and regulations. There are a few examples of this.

Emotional support animals.

Someone who certifies their undisciplined pet as something it is not, places it into inappropriate situations it doesn't have the ability to handle, and ruins public accommodation for everyone else. The same person who will scream discrimination if they are challenged on this point. The people who muddy the waters between an ADA protected service dog and an emotional support dog.

Wouldn't it be nice if the owner of a business, manager of an establishment, security guard, or others managing a private establishment could ask for a card with a QR code? Valid Service Dog - Registration good through 4/2019.

Public transit (bus/subway), public parks, piers, and similar.

Open until 6PM, closed on holidays, can't sit on benches after a certain hour at night, no waiting for the next bus/train sitting for longer than 15 minutes, and a host of other policies to combat the homeless. The same people who would be charged for a crime for lowering their pants, relieving themselves, and dressing will simply pee themselves or worse. A 'damp' seat takes on entirely new meanings.

Wouldn't it be nice if authorities could remove someone from the street covered in urine and feces, get them help from a doctor/social worker, and not try to move the problem down the road?

The HERO act and similar.

For some, the idea of simple. Dozens of teenage girls who do not want to expose themselves around someone who has a penis. They shouldn't be forced by a Court to expose themselves around someone with a penis. Their right to feel safe, comfortable, and in control matters.

For others, the idea is also simple. No matter what, no matter who, no matter the circumstances that person with a penis has a legal right to be there. Your young teenage daughter just has to accept her bigoted, regressive, out of touch views do not have a place here. If she doesn't feel safe, TOUGH!

Wouldn't it be nice if we could establish a point at which someone has the right to be there? If you've lived as a woman for long enough, your ID is changed to reflect that fact? If you've consulted with a doctor, been through the sessions, and are confirmed, have the status noted? Something that is less vague than "They have a right to be there, you don't have any right to object, and if anything happens we'll deal with it later."

tl;dr Discrimination is wrong, but assholes are also wrong. Two wrongs do not make a right.
