Transitioning dog from sleeping in bed to sleeping outside of the bedroom

My cats shed and aren't allowed in the bed a lot of the time. I forget my dog is nonshedding also. But ugh that's so true. Going from a one person bed to having your other half sleeping there is a big deal. Pets can be so disruptive, unfortunately. They will be ok outside of the bed. I have pads that lay on the bed and emit electricity when touched or stepped on. It really doesn't hurt, i've zapped myself about 400 times now. But it will help keep the animals off when you are home and can't close the bedroom door. Or, if you want to leave the bedroom door open but keep the animals off as another training tool. Also, I have gotten a birdhouse from dogtek (below) if you have to put the dog elsewhere but don't think he can handle it without crying or barking at night, the birdhouse and emits ultrasonic sounds when it detects a dog bark. The sounds it emits are annoying or aversive and the dog won't bark. This may sound harsh, but in my experience, it is better to start with having him in the crate, and keeping him quiet, and then slowly after at least a week or so maybe longer, depending on the behavior top of your dog, letting him out and sleeping on the couch or in a dog bed somewhere etc. You could also train him possibly to sleep in the dog bed on the floor, with it being a new home
