In general I always try to bring a smaller version of what I normally use or items in stick form. My favorite item for travel was Pixie Lid & Line. It has eyeliner and powder eyeshadow in one pencil. Unfortunately it has been discontinued and I have yet to find a suitable replacement. I can make-do with non-black eyeliner pencil that comes with a smudger for eyeshadow if I need to travel super light or I might break pressed powder eyeshadows.

I bought contact cases in bulk and often just dispense cream in large/heavy containers into those after disinfecting them. In addition I also have these mini jars with shifters for loose powder items. Finally these are also great for creams.
