Regardless of the age of something, a spoiler is a spoiler. Just because a story is x years old doesn't mean you're not spoiling it for someone.

Buffy is a good example for me personally because I do want to watch that show, but I haven't seen it. I don't know anybody that seen it, and I don't know any communities online that talk about it regularly. However, if I was just scrolling through Reddit and someone was discussing Buffy spoilers and I saw that without wanting to, I would be upset! There's a show that's been out for two decades that I haven't seen that I want to watch being spoiled for me because people are discussing spoilers in a place where they shouldn't be discussed, IE where people who may not have seen it and would like to could see those spoilers. Like, if you're talking about Buffy spoilers and a Buffy subreddit, that's totally cool. That's the perfect place to do that! But if you're talking Buffy spoilers in the comments section on any random subreddit, you might be spoiling that show for people like me. I know it's been out for a long time, but I haven't gotten around to watching it. Does that mean I deserve to have the show spoiled for me? I don't think so.
