There are people who genuinely believe that Indians are the victim here and we have been kept down by 'the evil white man' and other invaders that kept the glorious hindu superpower down. There are rational people that think the west owes us reparations - and this argument is brought up to justify just about everything. There are historians that actually believe the industrial revolution and renaissance happened from the blood of colonialism (no other reason apparently).
If we want to access their job market obviously they're going to ask for something in return like us opening up our import markets.
Exactly. We manufacture generic pharmaceuticals and say fuck you to America, we constantly try to stop FDI, we still haven't introduced full capital convertibility - but we expect everyone else to embrace everything about India with no caveats.
I find it actually quite amusing that some fringe desis started loving Trump (because they think he hates muslims), and now the tables have turned. Honestly even comparing the state of Indian politics to USA is retarded, there was a piece by Swapan Dasgupta in The Telegraph a few days ago - it really illustrates how many Indians just love to take the moral high ground and make the claim that the West is dying and falling to hatred, and India is some kind of rising star. Some of the things that we are seeing in these political movements: anti-immigration, protectionism, ethnocentricism and a dislike for islam, populist and often anti-EU or isolationist politics in europe and america - I find it just laughable that Indians try to say we are somehow better.
Trump jokingly says America needs to build a wall to keep out Mexicans. Meanwhile this is what happens on Indian borders with an ally, Bangladesh.. We have instances where border crossers are just shot. Imagine what would happen if that happened in America, or Europe.
Trump said maybe it might be a good idea to stop the immigrations of muslims, until we figure out what's happening. Presumably he wants to impose very strict immigration controls on muslims entering the country.
Meanwhile we have the likes of Yogi Adityanath and Sadhvi Prachi preaching total venom in parliament, and saying completely vile things on the record. We have politicians bragging about how muslim women should be dug out of graves and raped (something said when yogi adityanath was on stage). We have politicians that are directly implicated in orchestrating riots, and even criminals and rapists sitting in parliament.
We have actual sectarian riots where we have hundreds die, mass rapes, xenophobic attacks on Africans like the recent incident in Banglaore and attacks against North East Indians.
How these people try to claim moral superiority is just pathetic levels of hypocrisy, propaganda and just lies; or maybe just ignorance.
Having said that, I do really hope Hillary or Bernie wins.
