Tweaked out mail thief in Santa Clara

Postal crime has been ridiculous this summer, especially in the Santa Clara area. I believe EPD sent out at least 2 if not 3 warnings about it, specifically. You made a mistake by not finishing the call. If you have time, it's worth it to call back and completely give them the information. Or use the online reporting system. It'll take about half an hour.

Also, it's worth contacting the postmaster general for Eugene and reporting it (especially the case number you eventually receive back from the EPD) to them. A search here indicates the postmaster general for Eugene is Lena D. Ariston. A little googling found her e-mail to be [email protected]. Why go through the trouble? Because nobody will do shit about it or even note that it happened unless you go out of your way to inform people who's jobs involve the requirement of noting and logging such stuff. Sad but true...in my experience.

If it happens again, whip out your camera and start videoing from the moment you see shit like that going down, getting faces (and if you can) license plates. I know that opportunity doesn't always present itself, but if you can get that information then the police and the USPS have a lot more to start working with.
