Tyra spilling the T on racist fans

But that's actually what you said and just repeated, that overt racists are a minority and she should just block them. . .

The example she gave to support her claim that there is institutional racism in the drag race fandom was of overt racism on social media, and of the millions of fans, they are the minority. For every ugly, racist comment, she probably had 100 positive comments and a thousand up-votes of those comments from people who agree with the positive comments.

If you want expand to the overall and far less specific subject of whether or not there is racism in the drag race fandom, then I am fine with that, and I might even agree with you. Do I think there is insidious racism in the world, subtle and yet still awful shit? Yes, absolutely. Do I think it is in the fandom? Well, I suspect that there is some among some portion of the fans: some of whom are overtly racist and some who are slightly racist because they identify more with queens who have similar backgrounds. . . but I think the majority of us are gays who grew up being called "faggot" at some point and who despise bigotry as a result.

Having said that, I could be convinced otherwise if someone was specific about their position and argued it well with supporting facts that make sense. Tyra failed to convince me in this interview because I believer her examples and supporting arguments do not hold water. YMMV.
