U of A switching some classes to remote (email sent today at 4:30)

Individual profs shouldn’t get to choose this as many students are going to end up taking a mish-mash of courses and will need to be on campus regardless, even if some classes get moved online. It’s likely a lot more convenient for professors to teach from home making the same fat salary without having to get up and move than it is for students to change their plans back and forth.

I’m at NAIT and I initially picked courses with in-person options because back in June I really didn’t think that we would still be having a huge COVID problem, and I assumed that vaccinations would be made mandatory upon returning to campus since everyone who can get one has the opportunity to do so and there are far more online options than in-person. HR students are getting screwed because that program is strictly online with no in-person choices at all, and if it’s the instructors making the decisions, I know exactly who made that one.

That being said I have a feeling if things don’t improve, everyone will be online again come mid-semester, so may as well just not bother.
