UC Berkeley BLOCKS Shapiro Event At University On September 14. Shapiro Vows To Fight Back

IMO they are dragging this out these controversies to milk the outrage for all the money/donations/resume footnotes they can.

BCR is definitely facilitating the drama by either misrepresenting the cancellation situation and/or half-hearting event planning/registration(like how they didn't properly file the papers/notify appropriate entities to identify time, date, venue and proper security arrangements; so the UCPD and UC admin asked them to reschedule Coulter).

I bet they've raked in more money, publicity, personal enrichment* in the last couple months than they have in years.

*Just check out BCR social media- this narrative of 'their struggle/persecution for freedom in Liberal America' has given them more networking opportunities than ever. We're talking about numerous invitations to various events; meetings with gov't reps, media personalities, ect. Just look at BCR's previous president Claire Chiara and current president Naweed Tahmas, they've definitely flourished from all the connections they've developed

Imo the school/UCPD/City of Berkeley has the right to ask for proper security arrangements for such events b/c we know how past events brought radicals or people just itching for a physical confrontation in general from both the left and right(like AntiFa, Bikers for Trump, Evropa). Public safety is literally their job.

And hell yea I agree that BCR should have to financially contribute for security. Whether it's campus cops or city cops, overtime pay is $$$. If we have to hire more security b/c of them, I sure as hell would be peeved if these cost externalities ends up on our plate through school/ASUC fees.
