Unable to preform magic when depressed?

I have a question. I've been just browsing here being I have been intrigued by witchcraft most of my life. Do spells really work or is it the law of attraction at play or positive thinking and being assertive with what you want? Money spells for example. You put all your energy and thought into the spell for money to where you are doing more than you'd usually do if you need money. I've seen a lot on love spells. I don't see any spell being 100% guaranteed so why instead of it being the spell that worked why can't it be the attention and effort you put into it? I saw a post about someone using a blood in coffee love spell. If you are going as far as that then you are clearly putting yourself out there for whoever you are attracted to to become interested in you. Then to the OP's concern of depression, if you're depressed the power of attraction would be less likely to work or your positive thinking and actions would be less than. Please don't take this as disrespect I'm only thinking here. Anybody can learn and practice witchcraft right? So getting ingredients for a spell, lighting candles or buying or making charms you're putting extra thought and attention into what you desire. To those of you who practice is it possible it's the same thing at play here? I also saw a post about a metaphysic ball...that may not be right name there but the point was to put all your energy and thought into the ball to train your brain to focus on what you want. I don't recall details but it was considered magic but it sounded a lot like law of attraction to me.
