[Uni] NUS Data science & analytics

There's not much to the course tbh. There's only two years of content, so that generally gives you an idea of how less you have to study throughout the four years. Though semester wise, your workload will be higher than say a biz student since you will have more content to learn rather than presentations. Most of your mods are maths and stats mods and a few CS/programming mods.

You spend two years doing internships as well since there's honestly not much to Data Science. As a CS student, personally, I learnt data science on my own and if you ask me, taking DS as a single degree for FOUR years is a complete waste of time. You are paying NUS tuition fees when you are actually doing internships for 2 of those years. (Yes, internships are good, but you could have been working during those two years instead of just interning).

On the positive side, there are a lot of data science jobs out there so you will have job security and a pretty good pay. But think about it, you will be competing against Maths, Psych, and CS grads who have learnt much more than you. But then again, if you have valuable internship experiences, maybe it might give you an edge over them.

Is it interesting?: Hmm, depends on whether you love maths and stats. If you do, you will surely enjoy this course. DS is all about maths and stats with a bit of programming. And if you are more of a practical person, maybe 2 years of internship might be a better option for you, in that case, just go ahead and apply for this course. I'm more of a theoretical person hence I feel this course wasn't suitable for me when I was applying to NUS a few months back.

I feel NTU DSAI might be a better option, they teach you AI on top of data science.
