My husband’s birthday is tomorrow, and I let him believe I wasn’t getting him much because money is tight after the holidays... secretly I saved up to get him a Switch!

I got my family together to get my SO a Switch for Christmas because he’s really hard to buy for, I couldn’t get it alone and it’s something he really wanted. He pestered me horribly for days to tell him what I got him because he “hates” surprises. Really, finding out is just fun for him. The last time I was able to surprise him was literally when we first moved in together four years ago, he’s ruined every surprise since like it’s his job. It was going to finally be perfect since the Switch was bought through my brother, a game store manager, and it wasn’t even going to be in the same city as him until Christmas. He went through my phone, checked my email, my amazon lists and wore me down until I finally hit him with the mom “ if you don’t knock it off I’ll call my brother and tell him to send it back and you won’t get shit for Christmas.” Well, I blew it and he knew what he was getting a week before Christmas. I told him my whole family got together to get it for him and he ruined his Christmas from everyone. He felt like an ass and learned a valuable lesson about boundaries but I moved out anyways.

The Switch is super cool, though. I applaud Nintendo on this system. I’ve been playing Breath of the Wild and it’s seriously one of the best games I’ve played in awhile. It feels like a finished game and it’s a joke that I have to say that but after playing some games lately that have been coming out glitchy and rushed to the shelves as a cash grab, it feels good to play an actual finished game that makes sense for once. Highly recommend it.
