I could understand if this isn't something you can rely to immediately, because of how understandable hurt you are OP, but maybe in a bit of time when emotions and adrenaline aren't that high anymore and you start to miss your family again, please consider to give it a chance. Even if it doesn't work out you would be able to know that you tried everything and it just didn't work out instead of having to question if there could have been something done.

Source: I wish I had made that one try with a single person of my family, so this question wouldn't have to bother me years later, when things aren't fixable anymore, because some people of my family do not live anymore.
