As a father who hasn't and likely will never receive a penny in child support, they definitely need to stop favoring females. When she initially had custody they couldn't find my address, they pro-actively suspended my driver's license. When I was a week late, they suspended my driver's license.

When custody was discussed the judge decided I only deserved every other weekend and no holidays, without any input from either his mother or I. It seemed to be the norm to give mothers 90% of the time (this was in Florida). When child support was discussed, I was asked how much I made. At the time I was a poor waiter with 3 roommates living in what should be considered a ghetto, and I responded "$1,200 a month" to which the judge ordered me to pay $550. Nearly half my entire income. When I asked how I could afford to feed myself, or even have a home for my son to be able to visit me the judge responded that I should get a 2nd and 3rd job.

For years she had custody and used it as a tool to abuse me. She withheld visitation when she heard from a friend that I was seen on a date for example. She told me that I wouldn't be allowed to see my son unless I was single. She would let me see my son on days I didn't have visitation, and try to make the visit about her wanting us to get back together.

When she went to jail multiple times, they refused to even hold a hearing for custody. When she went to prison, they tried to force me to take my son to visit her. I finally had enough, hired a lawyer and learned of loopholes to move out of the state while she was in prison.

Now that I have custody , it's been 6 years without a single payment. I give them her address, her work address, her phone number, and even link her facebook and linkedin accounts in my letter to child support services... Still nothing. I've come to terms with the fact that my son will turn 18 having never had a single thing paid for by his mother.
