Vaginal-fluid transplants treat incurable condition in pilot study, fully restoring healthy microbiomes in 4 of 5 women with bacterial vaginosis (BV), which could “revolutionize the way we view and treat conditions affecting the female reproductive tract.” Published this week in Nature Medicine.

I certainly think it could, mostly if he’s uncircumcised. On a circumcised penis there is really a lack of any real place for bacteria to set up a big shop, and the urethra is constantly being flushed by urine. Uncircumcised is a totally different story and uncircumcised men can end up dealing with a lot of the same “issues” women do - yeast infections, UTI, etc. Humans are bacterial circuses. My sister spent most of her childhood and teens on antibiotics for an unrelated issue so I’m sure this contributed to her ending up with a “challenged” environment for the “right” bacteria to set up shop in. And of course each individual’s chemistry, existing bacterial colonies, etc. will also influence what bacteria form colonies and of what size. One of my best friends - a guy, who is not circumcised - also recently told me about the year long nightmare he and his ex gf had being “biome incompatible.” We’re making up that phrase but basically he said both he and his ex were practically allergic to each other’s genitals, both dealing with sudden onset of agitation and issues shortly after they started dating. I don’t think he’d ever actually go through with it but he personally has had so many issues with being uncircumcised he said he had considered adult circumcision and said he’d definitely circumcise his son, which he is well aware is not a popular opinion.
