Waiting for people to stop talking.

I think selective hearing works for me the best. I don't know what it is but when others are talking to me that I'm not particularly interested in or any given conversation, I tend to zone out more often than not. However, I really would rather not be rude by zoning completely out or discontinuing a conversation early on, so I have trained myself to keep facial contact and pick up on selective key words to grasp the theme of the conversation just enough to get by.

Though that said, I suffer on the side of the inattentive - sluggish cognitive tempo type. I had to find a way to adapt for school growing up otherwise I'd get in trouble for not paying attention. The first thing I worked on was to keep facial contact so my head wouldn't graze at something else while thinking about anything else. It is still very difficult to do sometimes and there are many times where I fail with this, but it works and over time I have seem to not get that many "are you high or are you listening" responses compared to when I was still an adolescent.
