Weekend Help and Victory Thread for the week of December 30, 2022

Does anyone else have savings anxiety/addiction lol?

I'm 26M and make decent money (85k) and have an ok amount of financial assets:

  • $2.5k checking
  • $28.3k in savings
  • $5k in 401k (wanted to hunker down and pay off student loans before contributing)
  • $3k in Vanguard ETFs (ideally would have more but see point above)

Every time I hit a new savings milestone (15k, 20k, 25k, and now upcoming 30k) I basically can't pull the trigger about a big purchase because I feel shit about dropping below the milestone I worked so hard to get to.

Current example. I drive a like 9 year old small Honda Fit and would really like a style/body type upgrade when it comes to the car I drive. Nothing crazy, Just looking at used CX-5s in the 20-23k range. Even though the payments would easily fit into my budget just fine I'm bugging out about dropping $4-5k on a down payment and dropping below $25k in savings because I worked so hard to get there.

Am I crazy lol?
