What about racism against whites? Any stories of being treated different for being white?

As a middle aged white guy with greying hair I have several stories to tell living in the Detroit area. The one that is the most obvious and just plain stupid is the service slow down protest (I assume it is how they stick it to the "man"). This can be experienced in a whole variety of ways.

  1. Service Slow Down - as soon as the worker sees that I am a white guy they slow down to retard level on purpose. I am nothing but polite, soft spoken, and request my order in a non-confrontational way, but then they start to mess up my order on purpose, etc. It is as bad as I want a #1 with a medium coke and fries - they give me a #3 with a large orange soda and a large fry. I have seen them purposely stumble through my order and then when they get to the black person who was behind me in line they snap through their order with amazing speed and accuracy. This service slow down extends to random stuff like waiting for a table at a restaurant and the black couple who came in after you is seated first.

I get it that their grand parents were treated the same way by whites in the 1940's - 1960's, so is it fair that they now are recreating the same behavior in a reverse fashion 55 years later?

I almost never complain to management when it happens, but I vote with my dollars. There are dozens of restaurants, shops, and service locations that I will not spend my money at ever again due to workers that behave this way. And screw you if you are a business owner that allows this to happen at your place of business - I hope your place goes bankrupt due to "white flight" of dollars from allowing workers to treat customers this way.

Just my vent of the day about this issue.
