What was the angriest you have seen a teacher get at a student?

Alright, now we're getting somewhere. I'm not trying to sway your opinion, as you have every right to have it. But when you ridicule me for having mine, I'm going to defend myself with what I believe is right. With the elderly that I've worked with and the stories of war, I gained a ton of insight and perspective. Some definitely knew what they were getting into, others were forced into it. I find your lack of empathy saddening, though. You're right about the people who do not want the help, an others that want death. I'm actually in support of people with illnesses that cannot be helped with assisted suicide.

You and I still have a lot of life ahead of us, so we never know what gets dropped on our laps to deal with. Your opinion about PTSD is extremely profound to me, though. The definition of PTSD is stated:

PTSD, or Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of a life-threatening events such as military combat, natural disasters, terrorist incidents, serious accidents, or physical or sexual assault in adult or childhood.

So I would at least think by medical definition you would take that into consideration. You think it's borderline offensive to have an illness that I can no control over? That I don't even want. That I would trade anything to not have. It's just odd. You might think that it's the right approach to hit your kid, but I guess we really have to look at how exactly we do it. A small hit on the kid's ass by the parent? I can understand it. But a person who is not a legal guardian picking a kid up by the neck and tossing him? C'mon. If you, yourself, did that, you understand that you would be put in jail if the parents sue, and the kid would get a little traumatized. A kid shouldn't have to be scared into being good.
