that one time Australia declared war on emus and the emus won

A lot of people forget that it was the great depression at the time, and they just couldn't afford to send enough people to properly eliminate the emus. Between the emus scattering way too fast, and them apparently being impervious to light gunfire ^{(seriously, what the fuck?)} it was an uphill battle. In the end they did the math and figured just paying a bounty for emu corpses was cheaper and that ended up solving the problem better than anything.

...I uh... always thought the full story was pretty interesting. Sorry for the rambling. I have a thing in my world where Australia is dealing with the same thing with Yowies and Bunyips in place of emus...
