What are some things you thought were uncalled for by instructors, authorities, teachers, parents, ect...for what you thought was a simple and/or small mistake in your childhood of the 40's to 70's?

I went to a progressive (of that time) Christian school, whose teachings were a little different to my 7 year old understanding of Christianity (our family was a different "branch" of Christian). This school taught that we were very much in-training for our life in heaven. That earthly everything was nothing/ meaningless compared to paradise and our afterlife in service to Christ. A classmate's father passed unexpectedly of an aneurysm. I was so quickly indoctrinated into this idea of heaven and paradise and our "real" purpose, when I heard the news, I remember saying to another school friend that even though it feels sad, we should all be happy because so-and-so's dad was with Jesus in heavan. I mean, 7-year-old me was thinking, this lucky guy, to be taken home to the Lord!! Of course the principal got wind of what I said and boy oh boy was I dressed down and punished. As an adult I can totally understand how insensitive this was but on the other hand, they were teaching/ preaching exactly what I repeated by rote. To this day I can STILL feel my indignation and confusion at being reprimanded because of adult hypocrisy. And I knew how bad hypocrites where BECAUSE of the Bible they were teaching us!
