I was at Home Depot loading up some drywall by myself into a truck. An old white guy comes along, stops to help, and goes "Hola amigo! Let me help you with that." Pushes the sheet of drywall in and asks "Mexico? Where are you from?"

Me: "Uh... I'm from [next town over], lived around here my whole life".

The smile immediately dropped from his face, he turned around slowly, and walked away without saying anything else. He totally thought I was Hispanic and only spoke Spanish. I'm a Filipino, but born and raised in the US. Funny thing is that the Home Depot is in a city that's known to have more Asian populations and he still thought I was Hispanic.
