What are your legit reasons to not have kids?

Women are socially expected to care for them non-stop, to give up their jobs/ work part-time etc. As I have a master’s degree and no aspirations of becoming a housewife, it’s really not worth it. No matter how progressive you are, subconsciously the mother is responsible for everything. Nope, thank you. 100 years from now it could have been different. As soon as everyone has accepted 50/50 responsibility, I’m game. Everything else is a waste of my time and dignity.

Context: I grew up in a large family and my mother never made it past a very basic education. She was a stay-at-home mom living off of governmental financial support ever since she got divorced. I really, really do not see myself anywhere near that.
