What are your nightshift horror stories?

Before I moved to the states, I used to live in England and would manage 6-10+ bedroom homes for teenagers in care. Sometimes these homes would be really old (oldest was at least 500 years old) They were usually always in the countryside in middle of nowhere to deter residents running away (which they still did occasionally) anyway I'm working this one home alone with about 7 bedrooms including my office / room that is in the attic. All of my kids have valid reasons for not being there that night so the place is dead and I'm watching DVDs in the office bored out my skull. - my shifts would run 24 hrs, but I'd stay awake until 11pm just in case any of the kids come back or have problems. I notice on my CCTV that movement based lights are going off sequentially along the hallways on the ground floor. Normally the display is night vision, but flash to color when the lights come on. I then head banging from down there and I'm 2 floors away in the attic. I decide to check it out and go down there, I open all of the doors to the rooms and there is noone in the fucking house. I'm confused but not scared at this point, make my way back to the office and put on a show again, I think i started texting a girl i was with at the time about it. Midway through a message I get distracted by full on running noises on the stairs leading to the office. Heavy footsteps pounding the staircase coming up and then they stop abruptly. I dropped my phone and ran to the door to lock it. I'm looking at the cctv for the house and I'm seeing l Color camera on the ground floor but not the 2nd. Meaning whoever was on the stairs was either back down on the first without triggering the 2nd floor cameras (wtf?) Or it was still on the other side of the door (wtf!) Either way I was scared now. I yell out hello, who's there and there is nothing in response. I kept the door locked and called it in with my colleague who said the place was haunted as shit. I didnt sleep much but I did rewind the tapes for the last few days and watch everyone leave and be accounted for. In the morning I did another walk through, the kitchen looked like it had been trashed which was pretty terrifying to open the door on, bc again the CCTV outside never showed the door opening for anyone to enter. Decided fuck that noise in particular and did not work that house again.
