I am a healthy middle aged man. I no longer work with at risk people. I do not need to get the Flu shot. They used to offer it for free when I worked at a college.

If you work with at risk people, or are at risk yourself then I do not see any harm in it.

Do not expect it to completely immunise yourself against the Flu. The flu, like the common cold, evolves with time and they do their best to ensure you do not get ill.

Also do not call the common cold "The Flu" if you get a little ill after having the shot. It's a coincidence and if you are able to say "I got the flu shot and now I have the flu" then you don't have the flu. If you can sweat and groan and pray for death you do have the flu. In that case you're just unlucky
