Think about how old our universe is compared to the very short time that we've been here. We're like a "project" race of sorts, where they have been here in the "shadows" so to speak the entire time. Introducing to us various different kinds of tech, while also making small, consecuative adjustments to our society, and biology in a very methodical and strategic kind of way, thats makes its it very hard for us to notice as the generations pass. The whole goal here being that they would like for us to become an ideal race, and neighbor that will hit the marks on all of the charecteristic traits that are preferable to all of the other intelligent species in our galaxy. We're lucky to be being brought up this way imo.
