What band is universally considered the worst?

I just find it interesting that everyone makes fun of nickelback.

I've tried to write this out like twice but it's been too long so here's the abridged version: its still long :(

You notice how when you joined reddit you were "subscribed" to various subreddits, which molds your homepage when you start out? To find other subreddits, you just had to be directly linked to them. (Or find them on all, but that's essentially just the default reddits anyway... random is just random)

So, basically, we're all viewing the same posts, more or less.

How it works (it's not actually this black and white)

People see opinion with upvotes, it looks more valid. Making them more likely to agree.

They repeat the opinion when topic comes up again, receive upvotes because the same community is upvoting the same comment again and again. More people see this because communities grow overtime.

Repeat.

In my opinion, it creates a system where the popular opinions become even more popular. And unpopular opinions rarely see the light of day. Especially if it's an opinion on something you might not have even had an opinion on before, like Nickelback.

So yeah, the person who made this thread knew exactly what they were doing.

On the contrary, youtube doesn't do that. You really have to find your own channels to subscribe to, but it helps! The "related videos" sidebar is how most new videos are found, one would assume. And it's from a wide variety of different uploaders. Also, their search bar doesn't suck!

You form your own network of people you watch, whereas on reddit, you start out with that formed for you. That's why opinions vary more on youtube. It's not because people are smarter or dumber on one site or the other.

I hope you understood what I was saying, and I don't even know if this relates to your comment anymore, but form your own opinion on it ;)
