Actually wondering if this has happened to other people as well - if it has, I would love to hear from you, because I've struggled with understand this for years:

My dad died suddenly 2005. He was a pedestrian struck and killed by a car. We were very close, and I was devastated. Two weeks after he died, I was getting read to go to sleep, when I suddenly sensed something - and sat up in bed.

Someone or something was there with me - so I called out, "Daddy, is that you?" And in the corner of my room, I saw a tall dense shadow with two small eyes. No face, but it - he - he smiling at me, and then he said, "be good." I nodded my and replied "okay, I will," and then turned over to go to sleep - I stared at the alarm clock for a good 15 minutes to make sure I wasn't dreaming - and I wasn't.

I like science and evidence, so I tried to tell myself it was a hallucination - but it wasn't. I've also been asked if I was scared - but I wasn't. I was overwhelmed by what had happened, which is why I think I turned over and tried to go back to sleep. It's a lot to bury the man who had shown me the greatest love I have ever known.

The hardest thing for me wasn't the loss - I could accept he was no longer with me - I just didn't know where he had gone - and the pain of not knowing was unbearable. I think he came back to give me that peace.
