Funniest thing is that the Guajiro government has been embracing wayuunaiki in the last few years, more than it's ever been. But I guess the 'daño' is already there, people see indigenous languages as useless. I always wished that the department embraced wayuunaiki way more and we were like Paraguay. I'm mixed (white, black, indigenous) but feel more close with my afro (dad's) side. My mother is mixed and she told me that the last person in her direct lineage to speak wayuunaiki was her grandfather. I live in Quilla but some of my cousins had wayuunaiki clases in school back In la Guajira, for example, and I've seen that many things in Rioacha are both in Spanish and Wayuunaiki. The other day I saw information from la gobernación and it was also in both languages. Sadly, I feel like the language will be loosing more speakers.
