Getting by as a single mom

Haven't to be a single mom and pick up the pieces is difficult in any country. It probably depends on their economic level, family support and their own profession.

I have a cousin whom is a lawyer, her ex-husband is an accountant. He was kind of lazy, lacked ambition and would get drunk at random and she had a enough of his bs. She is more of a breadwinner than him. She is the main provider of her 5 year old child. Her ex-husband has his daughter every other weekend.
Other male family members, including her twin brother have stepped in to be a father figure for her daughter and do things with her, be supportive.

Her ex-husband went to live back with his mom, so it's not like he doesn't have money to support his own daughter because he does. He prefers that my cousin carries most of the load, emotionally and financially! Just a man who doesn't have a backbone and doesn't really want to carry out his responsibility of being a hands-on father too much.

I am going to delete this comment in a bit.
