I just started working in a funeral home a few months ago, I was offered the job because I know someone who knows the owner, and they were looking for someone to pick up the slack since they were a little short on staff. And I really needed a job, and the pay was decent. The first couple of dead people I saw were at first a little frightening, but looking back I’d say that’s because society had trained my brain to see a dead person as a scary thing. After the first few it really isn’t a big deal. The other day I moved a guy’s head and the trapped air in his throat gurgled right in my ear, my reaction was to just kind of laugh and roll my eyes. It very quickly becomes mundane.
