He was kind of an odd, nerdy guy in that circle of friends. One of the girls in that group broke up with her boyfriend, and started dating him. We thought it was going to be fine, since we were all friends already.

He changed overnight into a possessive freak I never thought he would ever be. He would pull her aside to keep her physically further from the rest of the group, she wouldn’t ever go somewhere unless he came with, and he started answering questions on her behalf (“How are you?” “She’s fine”). We all normally hugged when we said our byes after a group hangout but he wouldn’t let her hug anyone, not even the other girls.

I texted her that this was bothering me and I was concerned for her. He responded with her phone saying it was him and “You are under no circumstances welcomed to talk to her behind my back, and if I catch you trying again I’ll fucking kill you”. Up to this point I thought I tried to think the best, and that maybe he was just ultra clingy and insecure for whatever reason. That message was the end of our friendship.

I stayed away from them for a year or so and they eventually broke up. She came back to our friend group but he didn’t. He stalked her for a few months, and would call her work to talk shit about her to her boss. He eventually went away and we haven’t seen him in a few years.
