When I was a little kid in the Gap at our mall there was some shitty cartoon movie on the tv that had a scene where the villain was talking shit while flanked by some smoke monsters, I thought they looked neat and said to my mom “hey mom look at the black freaks in the show” another women in the store who was African American shot me a dirty look while my mom shushed me.

Only years later did that memory surface again and I realized that I said some inadvertently racist shit in public as a preschooler. I know that as a kid I didn’t mean it and it’s not something to really worry about but every once and a while I remember it again and feel bad for a lil bit.
