What has gone wrong with Linux culture?

Use whatever distribution you like, the fact that you are afraid that simply USING a distro is somehow contributing to the pointless chickenfighting is sad and highlights the problem even more.

I use Arch because I like and use the features of Arch. Someone uses Fedora because they love the carefully crafted full experience it offers. Someone uses Debian because they value extensive testing of packages and customizability. Someone uses NixOS, because why not?

It would be wrong, however, to use Arch because "that makes you smart and cool". It doesn't. It would be silly to use Fedora and say that every Arch user is a wannabe script kiddie. It would be silly to use Debian and say that people who use Ubuntu are "idiots who couldn't install Debian".

Just like using expensive guitars doesn't make you a cool musician, or using a cheap hammer doesn't make you a bad craftsman, using a certain distro doesn't mean anything. It's just a tool.
