What happened between Walt and Gretchen?

I’m literally watching this as I write this.

I think we, as the viewers, are supposed to come up with the backstory ourselves and connect the dots. It’s one of those things that never gets fleshed out, as far as I remember of this series or Better Call Saul.

The story isn’t ever fully explained, just kind of given pieces to connect to form a story and get an idea that there was some type of small falling out between the two. The feeling never left and is felt in this scene between Walt and Gretchen over Walt’s lie to his family regarding Elliot and Gretchen. Probably one of those things they both got over but never fully talked about with one another and those feelings are still there. Neither has fully gotten over it and isn’t quite yet to say all the details in this heated exchange.

I wonder if Vince did plan to fill in the gaps and perhaps they’re deleted scenes that didn’t make the cut. Maybe even ideas left on paper that he or someone else scrapped. More than likely, it didn’t have a real place in the story and just never was included because of that.

The restaurant that Lydia and Todd meet at later in the series is more of a coffee shop whereas this was a fancy, upscale restaurant. Unless there was a second restaurant I’m not remembering.
